Data Destruction for Media That Should Never Be Used Again
Retired equipment and media can continue to expose business data long after they leave active service. One Safe Place helps organizations identify eligible media, document authorized disposition, and destroy data-bearing assets through a controlled process.

Data Destruction FAQs
What types of media can One Safe Place destroy?
Eligible media may include hard drives, backup tapes, optical media such as CDs and DVDs, card-related devices, mobile devices, video tape, film, and other data-bearing assets. Final eligibility is confirmed before service.
Is deleting or reformatting enough?
Deletion and reformatting may not remove recoverable data from a device or medium. Physical destruction is used when the approved disposition requires the media to be made unusable.
Can data destruction be added to tape vaulting?
Yes. Tape programs often need a defined process for media that has reached the end of retention. Destruction can be coordinated as part of the broader custody and disposition workflow.
How do you know what is authorized for destruction?
The customer identifies and authorizes the media to be destroyed. One Safe Place confirms scope, handling requirements, and documentation before the destruction process begins.
Do you provide documentation?
Yes. A Certificate of Destruction is included, together with a list of visible serial numbers or tape numbers for the media destroyed. Final documentation requirements are confirmed with the service scope.
How do we start a destruction project?
Book a 15-minute call with an estimate of the media types and volume involved. One Safe Place will clarify eligibility, logistics, custody, and quote requirements.
